STATUTORY TESTING

New Wave Group (Australia) offers safety compliance testing services. This is to ensure client’s electrical equipment and systems are always safe for use and in compliance with safety standards. Some of the testing services we offer are:

RCD Testing

A residual current device (RCD), otherwise known as a safety switch, is a device that provides essential safety protection against electric shocks and fires. They need to be regularly tested to ensure they remain in good working order as they will only provide ongoing protection if operational. AS/NZS 3760 is a joint Australian and New Zealand Standard that outlines the in-service safety inspection, testing method and frequency of electrical appliances. The frequency of RCD testing varies according to the type of environment and/or equipment according to the AS/NZS3760 Standard. Please refer to the RCD schedule in Table 4 of the Standard.

Emergency Light Testing

Emergency and exit lighting must be inspected, tested and maintained in accordance with the AS/NZS 2293 Standard. Failure to comply could not just result in a penalty, but also endanger the safety of your staff and visitors.

All emergency and exit lights must undergo a 90-minute discharge test of the battery every 6 months as stated under the AS2293.2 Standard.

Electrical Testing and Tagging

Test & tag is the process of inspecting and testing electrical equipment for safety in accordance with the test & tag frequencies outlined in the AS/NZS3760 Standard.

Any electrical equipment that is connected to the electrical supply by a flexible cord and/or connecting device is required to be tested and tagged.

Test & tag regulations are drawn in the AS/NZS 3760 Standard. It is a joint Australian and New Zealand Standard created by Standards Australia that outlines the in-service safety inspection, testing method and frequency of electrical appliances.
